Family Fun in Arlington

Is there anything better than a beautiful Texas day spent under the sun, riding roller coasters, and wiping powdered sugar off your face from all the funnel cake you’ve devoured?

There’s so much family fun in Arlington, TX, knowing how to spend a whole day can be tricky. Don't despair — we've got your fun-filled itinerary here. All you have to do is bring the family!

Theme Parks

One of our favorite ways to spend a day with kids? Listening to their laughter and shouts of joy as they careen around a hairpin turn on a rollercoaster at Six Flags Over Texas.

Home to dozens of stomach-dropping rides for thrill seekers — and plenty of rides for the whole family, too — there's something fun, and slightly terrifying, for everyone at Six Flags. Family-friendly rides include BATWING, a Batman-themed fly-around, and El Sombrero, where you can take a seat on the brim of an enormous hat for a wild spinout.

On a hot summer day, you might want to get the family over to Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, North Texas' largest water park with 50 sprawling acres of rides and slides. Let the kids splash around the 1-million-gallon wave pool before grabbing a bite at Surfside Grill where you can enjoy a classic hamburger, fries, and a refreshing soda.

If a day spent in the A/C learning about the universe is more your family's speed, check out the Planetarium at UT Arlington. One of the largest planetariums in Texas, the UTA Planetarium features a 60-foot dome projection surface and fully digital projection system, so you can see unparalleled views of the night sky, the solar system, stars, and distant galaxies. A fascinating activity for the whole family!

Sports

No trip to Arlington would be complete without catching a Cowboys game at AT&T Stadium or enjoying some Cracker Jack at a Texas Rangers game at Globe Life Field. If your family loves sports, Arlington is the place for you.

Enjoying games as a family is easy: AT&T Stadium has a Kids Zone where the kids can be entertained before the game, and each stadium is equipped with ample family restrooms (with baby changing stations, too!), family-friendly food options, and more.

If your kid is the future Nolan Ryan or Pudge Rodriguez, they will love catching a Rangers game at the new Globe Life Field. They may even want to join the Jr. Rangers Club, the official 13 and under kids club of the Texas Rangers. Members get all kinds of perks, from Rangers merchandise to great discounts on special camps.

Family-Friendly Dining

After a day of screaming — whether from the heights of the roller coasters or for the Rangers' game-winning home run — you and your family are going to be hungry. Fortunately, there are a whole host of family-friendly restaurants in Arlington.

If you're in the mood to sit down and enjoy the finer things in life after a day on your feet, head to Troy's to experience some of famed Cowboy quarterback Troy Aikmen's favorite drinks and eats.

Hotels

After everyone's well-fed, there’s no doubt that a comfy bed will be calling your name. End your day at one of Arlington’s excellent hotels conveniently located in the middle of all the fun. These locales get you close to the action, so you can spend less time in the car and more time making fun memories with the kids.

Have a hard time keeping your kids out of the water? You may want to check out one of our many awesome hotels. From outdoor infinity pools to heated ones, splashing around is sure to be the kid's favorite part of the hotel — and the break you'll get relaxing poolside might just be your favorite part as well.

Conveniently located on the Arlington Trolley line, many hotels have yummy restaurant on-site sure to please every palette. And there's no doubt our hotels are family friendly, with many offering complimentary cribs, baby bath amenity kits, and often kids under 18 stay free. What parent doesn't love to hear that?
