Downtown Arlington
With a historic square and lots of exceptional shops and restaurants, Downtown Arlington is a must-visit on your next Texas getaway. There's no better spot for a weekend of shopping, eating, enjoying the arts, and having fun. While there's too much to see in just one trip, we've compiled some of our favorites below to get you started!
Restaurants
So much sight-seeing and shopping to be had, you're bound to work up an appetite. Be sure to take a break (or two!) and enjoy one of the many delicious Downtown Arlington restaurants.
If some Texas BBQ is calling your name, head to Hurtado Barbecue for their famous and distinctive Mexican-inspired BBQ. Grab a specialty cocktail from Hayters Bar and Lounge, right next door, to enjoy with your BBQ.
It wouldn't be Texas or Downtown Arlington without tacos. Cartel Taco Bar takes classic tacos for a spin and paired perfectly with their selection of tequila cocktails.
Stop by the cozy J.R. Bentley's English Pub for a cold pint and some across-the-pond classics, like classic battered fish ‘n’ chips or a sumptuous cottage pie, a rich beef pie in a thick Guinness sauce.
And if you find yourself in need of a coffee and sweet treat, make your way to Sugar Bee Sweets Bakery for a delicious cinnamon roll or one of their special weekly cupcakes, like the crowd favorite: coconut cream.
Shopping
Whether you're in the market for home goods or a new pair of cowboy boots, shopping in downtown Arlington will give you plenty to choose from.
Vinyl collectors and music fans can’t miss a trip to Growl Records, not only do they sell new and old vinyl records, but constantly have live music. They're right next to Division Brewing so you can sip while you shop and listen to music.
If you're looking for a little sparkle in your step, check out Wildfire & Lace Boutique's collection of modern vintage, boho, and feminine rustic cowgirl fashion.
Arts
While you're walking among the great shops and restaurants in downtown Arlington, be sure to take in the incredible public art, including the "North Texas Blues" mural on E Abram Street and "Stevie Ray Vaughn," a Texas legend, on Main Street.
You won't want to miss the opportunity to experience the breathtaking art at the Arlington Museum of Art, which features traveling exhibits from around the world, or the stellar art exhibitions at The Gallery at UTA. Both spaces offer a beautiful and peaceful place to spend an afternoon. And if you leave feeling inspired to try your hand at painting, Board & Brush and Catalyst Creative Arts provide workshops and other opportunities to create art.
If live performances are more what you have in mind, Theatre Arlington offers award-winning productions year-round. Performances do sell out though so you may want to get tickets in advance if there's a show you just can't miss!
Entertainment
No trip would be complete without experiencing one of the many downtown Arlington events. One of the best spots to check out is the Levitt Pavilion Arlington, an outdoor music venue that features free music under the Texas night sky.
Another downtown hot spot is the Arlington Music Hall, a renovated historic movie theater that brings in artists from around the world. A night out at either place is sure to be the perfect ending to a delightful day spent in downtown Arlington.
